Göbekli Tepe

Throw out the old history books because archeologist have yet again discovered an older monolithic temple structure (previously stone henge) that predates to 9000 BC. The Göbekli Tepe is in present day Turkey and has some wicked carvings.

New Moral Development.

Building a community from the beginning is a dream of probably most architects. The ability to work with the developer on a large tract of land and subdivide the property into smaller lots and create the community planning logistics ie sizes of houses, types of building materials, site locations, public utilities, sustainability components, landscaping requirements, interior subdivision relationships, and selection of the most prime land to be reserved from development. Why are so many american communities the same? Why is there a blandness related to picket fences and green yards and the rapid deterioration of home values when one gated community is surrounded by another or series of walled subdivisions? Well its because, it has a lot to deal with the regulations inside the "american dream" planned communities and the lack of foresight to protect the beauty of the land that once existed before it was bull dozed and replaced with a false reality of community. The uniqueness o

Architecture Furniture pieces to the whole

Image
Furniture is the forgotten detail of architecture that can provide unique finishing elements that can relate to the structure of the whole. At our office we take the time to be inventive by developing all types of furniture for our structures. On the Goldstein project every design that is built is usually the amalgamation of up to a dozen designs more or less. The ability to review many options is very productive even if they do not become built form because they can become a study that may reemerge in a future design more polished. The best designs in architecture and furniture is those that use the true nature of the materials they are composed. By this I mean that if any element is made from metal that it should use its natural physical elements being tensile strength. Depending on how the form is manufactured the material metal should reflect its construction i.e. tube steel vs. precision cut metal. The upper example is an aluminum and glass coffee table the metal plate has bee

Goldstein Projects Current

The Goldstein Projects are additional buildings adjacent to the Sheats/ Goldstein Residence that my office has designed and detailed. These structures will occupy a series of functions that include a tennis court, office, theater, terrace, nightclub, and a guest house. Currently under construction is the nightclub and more specifically some furniture is being formed to be poured in the coming weeks. The project details are intensely unique and are constantly being developed. The concrete reinforced cantilevers stretch out long distances to thin edges. This can be achieved by lengthening the rebar further and further into smaller strands while retaining rigidity by connecting back to the network of steel that reaches down into the structural slab. While the materials used throughout these projects are a very limited palette that comes from the vernacular of the original residence the finishes and concrete mixes are new as there have been developments in the products. I have created this blog to track my progress on becoming an Architect so that it includes the ongoing work projects and personal design projects as they develop. The term " Architectoid " was one that I came across that describes my current state of purgatory as I transition into a professional . Although I may put things brash I am in a very exciting place in my life, and I enjoy trips into our amazing and vast american park system from my California residence. I am currently working at Nicholson Architects and I have the current opportunity to be working on several great projects as a Project Architect . I am planning on logging many entries from different points and times from the current Goldstein Projects ( Sheats/Goldstein Residence/ continued vision ) to hopefully help me develop a publication in the far future of the work at our office. This format would also be helpful to allow me to describe small projects ( architizer ) that I continue to build of furniture

Environment and the Individual

I'm interested in exploring the relationship between architecture and nature. Indeed, as humans, we are deeply connected to the natural world, and this connection is often reflected in the buildings and structures we create. For centuries, architects and designers have been inspired by the natural world, drawing upon its forms, patterns, and materials to create buildings and spaces that harmonize with their surroundings. From the ancient Greeks, who built their temples and civic buildings in harmony with the natural landscape, to modern architects who incorporate sustainable design principles into their work, nature has always played a central role in architecture. One of the key principles of architecture is that form follows function. This means that the design of a building should be dictated by its intended use, as well as by the natural environment in which it is situated. For example, a building located in a hot, sunny climate might have large overhangs and shaded outdoor spa
