New Moral Development.

Building a community from the beginning is a dream of probably most architects. The ability to work with the developer on a large tract of land and subdivide the property into smaller lots and create the community planning logistics ie sizes of houses, types of building materials, site locations, public utilities, sustainability components, landscaping requirements, interior subdivision relationships, and selection of the most prime land to be reserved from development.

Why are so many american communities the same? Why is there a blandness related to picket fences and green yards and the rapid deterioration of home values when one gated community is surrounded by another or series of walled subdivisions?

Well its because, it has a lot to deal with the regulations inside the "american dream" planned communities and the lack of foresight to protect the beauty of the land that once existed before it was bull dozed and replaced with a false reality of community. The uniqueness of a particular area exist as the natural terrain, plants, and animal life that exist and should be protected as part of the blending into the environment. We should take on a Shepard mentality of the remaining undeveloped land and make organic lasting impressions.

For instances houses should be a minimum average of 2500 sf and the use materials that reflect the natural tones of the terrain, be non reflective, low maintenance, and be structurally unique in form. The buildings should be located low to the earth and be obscure from sight so that most views from the homes are of the landscape and not of other homes. All homes should make use of natural prevailing winds, sunlight, and terrain. The buildings should be sustainable and all landscape should only be native plants of the area and therefore requiring no watering. This could all be accomplished by relying on a limited number of architects that the new owners could choose to develop there individualistic homes.

Well this is just a small reflection that all of the homes and a new community should not look alike in one place yet across the country, but yet they do. Well heres to the hope that one small development is different.

And the opportunity for a good developer to see the foresight and value of a community based on higher moral and architectural standards.
