James Goldstein Office by Architect John Lautner

Here is a video of Mr. Goldstein's original office in Century City by Architect John Lautner. Here is a full description of the office.

The written words of Contractor Roban Poirier in regards to the Goldstein Office:

This is the James Goldstein Office designed by Architect John Lautner. The Project Architect, Andrew Nolan, asked Mr. Lautner upon the completion of the Plans which Builder he favored to build this project.
Mr Lautner said verbatim: " Let's give this to Roban to build for us ". When I went to see the Plans at the Lautner Office, Mr. Lautner had Andrew take me through the Drawings and explain the job to me. The entire job was to be built to be installed in the 20th floor of a high rise office building in Century City. It was built to be dismantled and re-installed into the Goldstein Tennis Pavilion at the Sheats-Goldstein Residence when it was completed. Mr Lautner looked in on our meeting and said " Here's a nice simple little Tenant Improvement project for you Roban. It should be easy for you to build " John Lautner's idea's about " simple and easy " do not apply to common mortals. It was a very tough build. When I asked Mr. Goldstein about the level of Craftsmanship and quality he wanted the project built to, he just said: " I want your finest quality, period ". It is the finest work I have ever produced. All the Trades did their best work. All the Carpentry Jointery is within a 1/64th of an inch. It took a year and a half to build. The hardest part of the job was the Management Group who ran the Building and their Napolionic Superintendent, and getting to use the Freight Elevator when you needed to. Commercial Highrise Construction is a totally different creature compared to Wood Frame Residential Construction. Ironically, the Goldstein Office share's the same fate at this time as The Arc of The Covenant did in " RAIDER'S OF THE LOST ARC ". It was dismantled piece by piece, crated up into 80 large packing crate's, and is sitting in a Warehouse collecting dust waiting to be re-installed at The Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art in the near future. I hope this becomes an exhibit for the Public to be able to view. Thank you John Lautner for picking me to build this simple little design for you. Thank you James Goldstein for wanting my best work. Thank you to all the Tradesmen who participated in creating this 850 square foot piece of Art. Special thanks to Floyd Darrensbourg, Master Mason, Charley Rausch, Cabinet Maker, Lee Whiteside, Master Glazer, Alan Stassforth, Master Carpenter, and Damion Poirier for watching and having my Back.
