Razzle Dazzle Camouflage
A great description for Razzle Dazzle Camouflage can be found on Wikipedia. It was extensively used by the English and American navy during WWI. The bizarre camouflage would break up the outline of the ship causing confusion to opponents targeting the vessels.
I first heard of Razzle Dazzle Camouflage from Roman Mars and his podcast 99% Invisible. I recommend this architecture podcast and is why I included it in my Top 5 Podcast.
