Rendering to Reality

My favorite part of producing nice renderings at Nicholson Architects is making them into reality. It is important to produce 3d models that reflect reality, otherwise its just an exercise in futility.



The aluminum and glass coffe table design by Architect Duncan Nicholson allows for users to maneuver around the functional shape of the beveled glass top. The glass is suspended by an aluminum arm and cantilevered in its extended position. The aluminum turned vase is a giant screw with threads about its exterior, therefore its removable. The vase can support large stemmed horticulture without overturning and is adjustable horizontally in its position on the arm.

A Futuristic Modern Architecture Box (dubbed the Sky Tower) nestled in the surreal setting above the clouds in the (futurist post apocalyptic) movie Oblivion  (2013) written and directed by Joseph Kosinski . The home has some obvious improvements with the the extended helipad over the see through acrylic infinity pool. I was recently reading an article from the September issue of 1956 House and Home and was astounded to see an interesting FLLW article with tips for the average home builder. As I was reading through the article I was realizing that those tips and advise were still just as pertinent today as it was in 1956. The particular house the article refers to is the Zimmerman house built in Manchester, New Hampshire. Bruce Goff's Ledbetter House

In 1948, Bruce Goff, a renowned Organic Architect, designed and constructed the Ledbetter House in Norman, Oklahoma. One of the most distinctive features of this unique home is its striking carport floating entry, which is supported by steel cables and provides both shelter and aesthetic interest.
