John Lautner's Jacobsen House

Image
From what is small in square footage about this home is made up in fold with great design by John Lautner. This unique Jacobsen House was built in 1947 with an ingenious prefabricated roof structure. The prefab roof was held in place by three steel truss columns that were pushed to the exterior and allowed for an open floor plan. When the floor plan deviated beyond the prefab roof in the kitchen John used custom built skylights to inclose the space and provide great interior light. The home is only two bedroom but the floor plan provides an open layout that flows from the kitchen to the living room and opens with sliding glass doors onto the exterior and with all the space combined it doesn't feel like a small home at all. Home For Sale The home next door to the Jacobsen House is also another Lautner with similar construction built at the same time. The Polin Residence is now on the market for an asking price of $1.5 million.
