How to Design a Table

Image
First it is best to come up with an idea for a table based on the function of the use, originality, and craftsmanship. Depending on your abilities, time, and money the variety of tables are vast. It is important that you begin by developing an idea that you feel comfortable and confident about completing. Make sure the idea for your table has a concept that is followed thoroughly through the design and is clear in the presentation. Step One: Try and develop the main idea in your head about how it will function for all of the uses and then solve the solution without ever drawing a line. Develop the construction details in your head and then put them down fluidly onto your media. Sometimes I’ll work by drawing a 3d model first of the table and then work backwards by drawing the plan, section, and details all in one sitting. Step Two: Check the design by reviewing all of the functions for the human proportions of use. Adapt the design as needed and review the quality

from ugly duckling to bare beauty, thanks Katrina.

Hurricanes are a true test of a building's structural integrity in their path they leave a swath of disaster. But on occasions I've noticed that they leave behind a better design than initially existed. I believe the reason for this is that they strip an ugly building down to the bare essentials of the structure. The above example of this was from a book on Biloxi and the recent disaster from Hurricane Katrina. An obviously ugly motel 6 building with a brick facade is wiped a way to reveal a clean steel structure with 20' bays and cantilevers...hmm interesting with a bit of glass and some low walls it could be a huge improvement to the previous design.

Arcade Fire brought the Lights

During this years 2011 Coachella show Arcade Fire brought down the lights literally onto the crowd. It was a great show and it was a bonus to have several thousand inflated balls filled with an LED puck that was coordinated to the music. The Creators Project was the force behind the lights for the 2011 Coachella show. And for those of you who took home your own color changing beach ball they want to know what happend to them? You know who you are...James.
